Fees

At NZ Small Audit our commitment is to providing cost effective audit / assurance solutions to small to medium sized entities and not for profit organisations. Our fee structure is reflective of the size of the entity and the complexity of the work involved, but generally we aim to provide services for fees ranging from $650 to $5,000. Our fees are agreed up front and will not be increased for the year quoted. However, generally our fees will rise by around $100 per year.

The fees noted below are all quoted GST exclusive.

Fee Bracket $800 – $1,200

We conduct audits of childcare Special Purpose Financial Reports for Ministry of Education funding. These special purpose audits for private centre’s are charged at $1,000 for one service number. If a centre has more than one service number under an ECA Pay Unit Number the fee is $1,000 for the first service number and $400 for each additional service under a Pay Unit. Community Based Centres (Incorporated Societies, Trusts etc) require a full audit and will be quoted on a case by case basis.

Audits of playcentre accounts are conducted for a flat fee of $800.

Fee Bracket $1,200 – $2,500

If your entity is relatively small and operating with a cashbook to produce a straight forward statement of receipts and payments you may expect your fee to be around $1,100. If your entity is slightly larger than that just mentioned and operating an accounting system which reports a statement of financial performance and a statement of financial position and possibly an asset register, but does not employ staff, you may expect your fee to be around $2,000 to $2,500. Examples of entities where this may be the case are Incorporated Societies, Charitable Trusts, local branches of National Associations etc.

Fee Bracket $2,500 – $3,500

If your entity is larger still, produces a full set of financial statements and has a small payroll you may expect your fee to be around $2,500 – $4,000. An example of an entity where this may be the case is a small company, charitable trust or club with a single income stream and a relatively uncomplicated balance sheet.

Fee Bracket $4,000+

Larger audits will be considered and may involve a site visit of 1 or 2 days, however, given our focus on smaller clients, larger assignments may be referred to one of our larger business contacts.

Our approach

Generally once you approach us we will request a copy of your most recent financial statements to see what the size of your entity is and what will be involved in the audit. Based on this and discussions with you in relation to events that have occurred since the date of the last financial statements we will issue a quote for the assignment.

As is the case with most small audits, in almost all cases we will ask that you box up and provide us with all the information we require off site. This is the most efficient way for us to conduct our audit, minimises disruption to you and ultimately enables the audit to be finalised quickly. Any queries we may have we will attempt to ask all at the one time to again minimise disruption to you and your entity.

For most larger audits we will meet with you at your premises to ascertain your entity’s systems / internal control environment in order to gain a better understanding of your entity and areas of potential risk upon which to focus the audit. At the conclusion of this initial process we will collect any records deemed necessary and will work off site at our office. Experience has shown this to be more efficient for us and less disruptive to you.

Our commitment to our clients is that they will deal with the same person each year – our director, Dave Mackay. Clients should not have to be faced with the frustration of explaining the same thing each year to a different auditor.
